Listen to Essential Update: Norfolk Island’s Visitor Information Centre Relocates For Glow-Up!

To ensure your 2026 getaway remains on track, we have a logistical update for all holidaymakers and industry partners currently on (or heading to!) Norfolk Island. Norfolk Island’s Visitor Information Centre (VIC) will be temporarily moving to a new location to accommodate long-due essential renovation works.

Starting Monday, May 11, 2026, the VIC will operate from its temporary premises at the former Seriously Chocolate cafe in the Strand Arcade. This will allow overdue renovations to be carried out at the existing centre, ensuring the facility remains one of the best resources for island history and travel assistance in the long term.

Additional Logistics for Travellers

  • Temporary Closure: To facilitate the move of furniture, fittings, and stock, the VIC will be closed from Friday, May 8 to Sunday, May 10, 2026.
  • Reopening Date: The centre is scheduled to resume full services at its new Strand Arcade location on Monday, May 11, 2026.
  • Alternative Support: During the three-day closure for shifting, travellers needing immediate assistance are encouraged to consult their accommodation hosts or tour operators.

As per the press notification, the Council will be working to minimise any disruption to services during this brief transition. If your arrival coincides with the closure period, don’t forget that many of the island’s primary landmarks – including the Kingston and Arthur’s Vale Historic Area – remain easily accessible for self-guided exploration.
