Listen to Seascape Norfolk Island: Oodles of Seclusion & Great Coastal Views

When flipping between choices of stay for a Norfolk Island getaway, the decision often comes down to choosing between the Burnt Pine township’s convenience or the quiet of the coastal ridges.

The Seascape Norfolk Island, situated on close to three acres, at Collins Head Road, offers a functional sweet spot. It is positioned high enough to provide a clear vantage point over the Pacific Ocean and Phillip Island, yet it remains a three-minute drive from the historic Kingston precinct. For modern international travellers, this property serves as a grounded, self-contained base that prioritises privacy without isolating guests from the island’s primary heritage sites.

Location: The Collins Head Vantage Point

From the private decks of each cottage, the view extends across the sub-tropical pine valleys and out toward Phillip and Nepean Islands. Because it is situated away from the main commercial hub, the atmosphere is notably quiet, punctuated mostly by the sounds of the local migratory seabird life. This elevation provides a consistent coastal breeze and a sense of scale that is often missing from more central, garden-level accommodations.

Seascape Norfolk Island: Accommodation Options

The property features four distinct accommodation units designed for independent living, utilising neutral tones and modern finishes. The largest of these is the Horizon Cottage, a four-bedroom, two-bathroom residence that serves as a practical choice for multi-generational families or groups of up to eight. It includes a recently updated kitchen with a clean white aesthetic and modern appliances, which opens into a large dining area and an expansive private deck equipped with a Weber BBQ.

For smaller groups or couples, the standalone Tern Cottage is positioned closest to the oceanfront, featuring an open-plan living and dining area, large windows and sliding doors. Both of its spacious bedrooms can be configured with king-split beds to suit different traveller needs. Additionally, the property offers two mirror-image Villas 1 & 2, which provide a functional two-bedroom, two-bathroom layout. These villas have recently undergone kitchen renovations to include half-drawer dishwashers and gas stoves, and like the larger cottages, they feature private decks with integrated laundry facilities for long-term convenience. To facilitate exploration, the tariff generally includes a hire car (conditions apply). Given the island’s terrain and the property’s location approximately five minutes from the main town, having a dedicated vehicle is a mechanical necessity for accessing groceries, restaurants, and the various walking trails at Mt Pitt.

The property’s proximity to Kingston and Arthur’s Vale is one of its most practical attributes. As the island prepares for the 170th Anniversary of Bounty Day this June, being just three minutes from the pier and the convict ruins allows guests to participate in community events with minimal travel time. Additionally, the Norfolk Island Golf Club – one of the few courses in the world located within a UNESCO World Heritage site – and the snorkelling waters of Emily Bay are within the same three-minute radius.

Seascape Norfolk Island: Heritage, Convenience & A Great Location to Boot

The cottages are a great choice for travellers who value a ‘home-away-from-home’ setup. It avoids the formalities of a traditional resort in favour of well-equipped kitchens, private laundry facilities, and a quiet garden setting. By providing both the vehicle and the vantage point, it offers a straightforward way to experience the rugged beauty of the South Pacific at your own pace.
